The situation
Republic National Distributing Company (RNDC) is one of the nation’s leading wholesale beverage alcohol distributors, operating a high-volume warehouse in Northeast Washington, DC. It’s an environment with elevated criminal activity that poses significant operational risk.

Before partnering with Hana, RNDC experienced widespread internal theft, poor oversight, and major security breakdowns. According to Distribution Manager Demetrius Dever:
“We had inside theft rings going on.”
Adding another layer of complexity to the job, employees regularly dealt with safety concerns outside the perimeter of the warehouse. RNDC needed a professional, highly responsive security partner capable of maintaining operational discipline in a complex environment.
The solution
Hana’s first step was understanding how theft was occurring. Hana leadership studied loading procedures, delivery patterns, warehouse operations, inventory movement, and employee access points to identify vulnerabilities and improve oversight.

As Demetrius explained, “We do have a product that people want. Liquor.”
With these new insights, Hana officers strengthened RNDC’s security posture through active patrols, bag check procedures, warehouse activity monitoring—even surveillance that stretched outside to the immediate distribution center campus.

Hana also maintained close communication with RNDC leadership, providing updates about criminal activity in the surrounding area and adjusting operations whenever needed.
The results
Since partnering with Hana, RNDC has significantly improved operational control, reduced theft activity by approximately 90%, and strengthened overall site security.
More than 40 individuals involved in theft activity—including loaders and drivers—were identified and removed. Internal losses dropped significantly, organized theft activity declined, and outbound truck targeting was dramatically reduced.
Demetrius credits Hana’s responsiveness and professionalism as a major factor in that success.
“I have total confidence in them. They’re willing to work with you. They understand the need, and they’re professional.”
Equally important, Hana became a trusted operational partner for RNDC leadership and staff, helping to create a safe and productive work environment.
