Our mission fuels our ambition.

The Hana Group is a Hawai‘i nonprofit corporation and an SBA-certified Native Hawaiian Organization (NHO). Our mission is to improve the lives of Native Hawaiians through education, cultural preservation and economic independence. In other words, we are social entrepreneurs. Our nonprofit mission drives us but is fueled by the discipline, rigor, and innovative spirit of our for-profit businesses. All profits we generate underwrite our nonprofit efforts.

What we do.

Headquartered in Honolulu, HI with fully staffed offices in both Wayne, PA, and Alexandria, VA, we are uniquely situated to cover a vast geography covering a wide range of services: IT, security, facilities management, janitorial, and grounds maintenance to name a few.

Our origins

The Hana Group founders, Brigadier General David E.K. Cooper, US Army, Retired, Brigadier General Irwin K. Cockett, US Army, Retired, and Captain Alvin “Uncle Al” H. Pauole, US Navy, Retired.
Brigadier General David E.K. Cooper, US Army, Retired, Brigadier General Irwin K. Cockett, US Army, Retired, and Captain Alvin “Uncle Al” H. Pauole, US Navy, Retired: three brothers-in-arms who shared a vision.
These veterans of the Korean and Vietnam Wars came together in Hawai‘i in 2005 with a vision to help disadvantaged Native Hawaiians by creating for-profit government and commercial services companies. In turn, these economic engines create job opportunities for Native Hawaiians to foster economic independence and cultural sustainability. Today, The Hana Group is one of Hawai‘i’s leading NHOs.

Our current leaders

Our leadership team consists of recognized business leaders and entrepreneurs, all of whom are Native Hawaiians.
